Calling all Australian-based Resource Geologists, Competent Persons, Geostatisticians, or anyone interested in the estimation of Mineral Resources.

There is a great opportunity coming in mid-May. If you are located in the Melbourne or Brisbane areas, James Pocoe and Serge Séguret will be presenting an AIG/AusIMM sponsored seminar.  They will be presenting several seminars focused on concepts and examples of applied geostatistics ‘beyond Ordinary Kriging’ – novel applications of geostatistics to address mining industry problems and opportunities. The seminars are to be held on 15-May in Melbourne and 16-May in Brisbane:

A bit about the presenters:

James Pocoe Consulting Pty Ltd (established 2013) provides specialist consulting services to the Mining sector: applied geostatistics; multivariate analytics; risk assessment; Resource geology; training; workflow development; audit and review.

Serge Séguret completed his PhD in geostatistics under the supervision of Georges Matheron at the Centre for Geostatistics at Écoles des Mines de Paris, Fontainebleau in 1991. For over 30 years Serge has contributed to the development and dissemination of robust Geostatistics across a wide range of applications including Marine Geophysics, Petroleum, Environment, Archaeology and Mining.

Serge worked closely with Codelco copper company in Chile as part of a long term consulting and research engagement between the company and the Centre for Geostatistics. The partnership was established to bring new insights and solutions to important mining problems and opportunities through the development of geostatistics applications.
